How to Refresh Your Space for Spring

Spring has arrived in Australia with some gloriously sunny days usually reserved for the height of summer. To mark its arrival (hello daylight saving too), we're packing away the heavy layers and lightening the mood with a fresh colour palette. This new look calls for new artwork so we're also sharing a print from our upcoming monochrome collection. With these few simple steps you can create your own fresh start at home...

1. Colour

Steering away from a winter colour palette, we've kept this look quite pared back with a monochrome base and accents of green and gold. This makes a feature of greenery against crisp whites, which have a cooling effect on the space. We've also introduced black in some of the pieces below to create a more refined look compared to traditional coastal styling.

2. Texture

When choosing textures to mimic sunny destinations, we generally turn to straw, rattan and linen. We've done that again here but this time, choosing these textures in black and white to keep the look clean and uncomplicated. We also included smoother textures like marble and glass to modernise this style.

3. Metals

Brass is our accent metal here but you could certainly use brushed nickel for a more silvery look that still pairs beautifully with shades of green (our favourite being eucalyptus for a cooler palette). When choosing feature pieces, consider looking for items that are directly influenced by the coast, like palm tree wall hooks or seashell dishes.

4. Artwork

Last but not least, artwork has the ability to instantly transform the mood of your space. In this case, the hot sands of Greenmount Beach set a summer scene. The print below will be coming soon to our online store as part of our new monochrome options. The crisp black and white in this print is key to creating a fresh, modern take on coastal interiors.
